Five offline RPGs worth your storage space

Five offline RPGs worth your storage space

June 22, 2026 · Marta Linden

Offline RPGs are a small, stubborn category. Most big mobile RPGs demand a constant connection, so the ones that don't deserve attention. These are the five I keep reinstalling.

Emberfall Chronicle leads for me because of its crafting. The combat is good, but spending an evening reworking gear with real trade-offs is what kept me hooked. It's generous with save points too.

When picking an offline RPG, check two things before you commit: how big the install is after the first update, and whether the save files live on the device. A surprising number of 'offline' games quietly phone home for progression.

Battery life also matters more than people admit. A turn-based game will outlast a flashy real-time one on a long flight, which is partly why I favour the slower titles.

Whatever you choose, play the opening hour before buying any upgrades. The first hour tells you almost everything about pacing.
